Full Description:

Award Winning Artist Sandy Moss Presents Colored Pencil Workshop at ArtHouse ArtHouse is pleased to host a workshop for adults on Colored Pencil Techniques taught by noted Texas Artist Sandy Moss on February 25. The workshop, to be held at ArtHouse (4150 W. Eldorado Parkway), will begin at 10:00am and finish at 4:00pm, with a one hour break for lunch. The cost is $65. Designed for beginners, the Colored Pencil Techniques Workshop will cover the basics of value, color layering, blending, burnishing and polishing. Each student will complete a color value scale and a lush colored pencil painting. Information on colored pencil resources will also be provided. Colored Pencil Techniques is about learning a new way to see and use the pencils most commonly used to draw maps with in school. This fun and exciting medium has entered the art world in a big way and is now accepted as a viable fine art form. Viewers of colored pencil paintings stand in awe of the rich, realistic results, while artists enjoy the portability and availability of this easy to control medium. The class is taught by Artist Sandy Moss, whose colored pencil paintings have won numerous awards and hang in private collections all over the United States. As a child growing up in a rural farm area of Eastern Ohio, Moss spent many summer days walking in the woods surrounding her home. The sights and sounds experienced during those walks, from buzzing bees to babbling brooks, are the inspiration for many of her works. She explains, “Natural forms capture my attention with their beauty and uniqueness, and as a representation of life experiences. From the recesses of one’s soul comes each work, an honorable process of making oneself vulnerable to find the surprise in each composition.” Enjoying the varied aspects of art keeps her interested in this journey. Sandy is a fantastic teacher and a gifted artist and ArtHouse is very excited to offer this workshop for those interested in learning this exciting medium.
