Happy spring break campers

Full Description:

Over 50 young artists between the ages of 3 and 16 gathered at Studio Art House for Spring Break Camp last week. Students created numerous works in a variety of media including pastel, clay, and acrylic, and experimented with techniques such as watercolor pouring and bookmaking. A highlight of the week was the Cartooning class for ages 7-12 taught by Oak Point Cartoon Artist Tim Markello. Tim introduced students to the basic elements of cartooning, guided them as they each created their own cartoon character, and developed the character as part of a narrative. Teen students attended Fashion Week, a three day fashion design camp taught by former designer and Parsons School of Design graduate Molly Goodall. The class learned to draw elongated croquis (French for “sketch”) figures and then developed mood boards and fabric groups for their own three look collections. The young designers’ collections were varied and diverse, including both costumes inspired by ancient Greece as well as sportswear inspired by the model and Andy Warhol muse Edie Sedgwick. Studio Art House is currently enrolling for a summer full of exciting and inspiring camps and classes, including extended cartooning camps with Tim Markello and Introductory and Advanced Fashion Camps with Molly Goodall.
