'McKinney Fire Fighters ‘Care Enough To Wear Pink’
The McKinney Fire Fighters Association in cooperation with the McKinney Fire Department will be participating in the “Care Enough to Wear Pink” campaign to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Association and Department will be selling pink T-shirts for $15 each to the public to benefit cancer related charities, including the ‘Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure’ and the ‘Fire Fighters Cancer Support Network’.
McKinney’s firefighters are joining fellow associations from across the state after the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters (TSAFF) adopted a resolution at their convention this past July that called on locals across the state to join the Tyler firefighters who started the campaign last year in an effort to raise funds to assist a fellow firefighter whose wife was battling breast cancer. As part of the resolution, on duty firefighters will be wearing the “Care
Enough to Wear Pink” shirts while on duty at their firehouses across the city of McKinney.
“We’re excited about the opportunity this campaign gives us to draw increased attention to the battle against breast cancer and the need for everyone to understand how important regular mammogram screening is to early breast cancer detection and cancer survival,” said Steve Dorris, President, McKinney Fire Fighters Association.
