Aquatic Summer Activities 2007
Full Description:
Level 1-2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills -
This class is designed for children ages 5 to 12 years. Only 5 years olds who can
swim independently without support, can be enrolled in the Level 1&2 class. The
students are evaluated and divided by skill level into two separate groups. One
of the goals of this class is to build confidence in each student by placing them
in a group of swimmers where their success will not be overshadow by more
skilled age group swimmers. The objective of this instruction is to give students
an opportunity to succeed while they learn fundamental aquatic skills. Students
learn to float and recover without support, practice simultaneous and alternating
arm and leg actions on their front and back. This exercise will help build a solid
foundation that will allow the students to learn additional strokes in the future.
Rotary breathing and treading water are also introduced.
Level 3-Stroke Development - This class is designed for children ages 6-12. Any student entering this course
must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements of a Level 2
student. In level 3 students are taught how to coordinate and improve their front
crawl and back crawl strokes. The correct butterfly kick and body motion are
practiced. Elementary backstroke kick and survival floats are introduced.
