Pack 496 was formed in April of 1996 (hence the name 496) and meets the last Thursday of each month (except Holidays and Summer Break) at Glen Oaks Elementary, 6100 Glen Oaks Drive, McKinney, TX.
The Webelos have always gone to summer camp. Locations include Camp Cherokee near Athens TX, Camp James Ray on Lake Texoma, and have gone to camps in New Mexico.
The pack yearly holds fun project based activities that include pinewood derbies, model rocket launches, and the Rain-gutter regattas; where scouts and parents bond by building and using their model cars, rockets, and boats during an exciting pack event.
Scouts of 496 also help the community around McKinney by participating in SCOUTING FOR FOOD, where food is collected and donated to the McKinney food pantry and is later distributed to feed families that need help.
Family Camp Outs are conducted at least annually and offer an exciting opportunity for families to connect with nature and share the experience of camping.
